Newly Designed Website
August 16, 2005 - PVUSD Releases Newly Designed Website.

PVUSD's Technology Services has worked to implement a newly designed interface that will improve the look and feel of the website as well as improve navigation and maintenance of district content. District office content will be managed individually by each department through a new system involving stylesheets and Contribute software. Each department has full access to change and update the content on their own portion of the district website, improving the relevancy and timeliness of the content to better serve the needs of the educational community.

August 25th, 2005 - PVUSD to be part of Gear-Up Grant

$16.3 million in federal grants bolster UCSC's Educational Partnership Center collaboration with local school districts to increase college-going rates

SANTA CRUZ, CA--More than 3,000 sixth and seventh graders will see the path to college more clearly thanks to $16.3 million in federal funds that the UC Santa Cruz Educational Partnership Center and three local school districts will administer.

The federal grants, provided over the next six years by the U.S. Department of Education's Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR-UP) initiative http://www.ed.gov/programs/gearup/index.html, will provide academic preparation and support for students in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District (MPUSD), North Monterey County Unified School District (NMCUSD), and Pajaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD).

November 11, 2005 - Rio Del Mar Elementary School Receives Blue Ribbon Award

Earlier this school year, Rio del Mar Elementary School in Aptos, CA earned the nation's highest recognition for a public or private school: No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon School. With more than 100,000 schools in the country, Rio is one of less than 300 to earn this distinction. Congratulations to the students and staff of Rio Del mar Elementary!

December 8th, 2005 - Pajaro Middle School Teacher Honored for Her Work
Teresa Rainey, a teacher literacy coach at Pajaro Middle School, was nominated for the California League of Middle Schools Region 5 “Educator of the Year Award. Ms. Rainey was honored at a dinner on December 8th in San Jose with ten other outstanding teachers from Northern California.

January 20, 2006 - Ohlone Teacher Receives Crystal Apple Award

Ronnie Platt, a Special Education teacher at Ohlone Elementary school, was awarded the Crystal Apple Award. Nominated by a Ohlone teacher Ronnie Platt has been awarded the Crystal Apple Award. The award is given by KSBW-TV and Dole Fresh Vegetables to one teacher each month from September through May. The award recognizes the efforts of educators. and parent from his class.

Bradley and Valencia Schools receive prestigious California Distinguished School Award

On April 25, 2006,State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jack O'Connell announced this year's list of California elementary schools selected as 2006 California Distinguished Schools. Both Valencai Elementary and Bradley Elementary were selected to receive this prestigious honor.
